“Good practices in transition programs to adult life”
Programs for the development and arrangement of personalized and comprehensive schemes of inclusion and transition to adulthood of young people without a family support network.
Transitions from childhood to adulthood are key periods for optimal social and community integration. The concept of transition from childhood to adulthood has been transformed over the years and does not affect all individuals and groups in the same way.
Currently, we find “yo-yo” transitions, which combine coming in and out of the labor market or out of one’s own home, and even periods of economic autonomy with others where social protection is needed. Therefore, this process is no longer smooth and, consequently, programs cannot be designed to meet this smoothness, since “life experiences are, in many cases, much more unequal, less predictable.” That’s why we need:
- design and develop programs that enable personalized and comprehensive responses
- evaluate initiatives through an evaluation system that measures efficiency, effectiveness and impact.
