María Victoria Carrera Fernández

Currículum vitae

Professor at the University of Vigo. PhD in Education Sciences (Extraordinary PhD Award, 2020) and in Behavioral Sciences (Extraordinary Doctorate Award, 2011), Degree in Psychopedagogy (End-of-degree National Award) and Diploma in Social Education. Her teaching/research field focuses on the processes of cisheteronormative and ethnocentric identity socialization, as well as on the discourses and practices of otherness with adolescents. She leads the state project “Bullying, heteronormativity and ethnocentrism: the role of secondary education teachers” (State Program of R + D + i) (2020-2023) and participates in the project “Adolescents and young LGBTIQ in the system of protection of children and adolescents in the Spanish State”.

“Training in sexual equality and diversity, and cis-heteronormative attitudes of minors in Spanish protection system”

The training of minors in the Spanish protection system in equality and sexual diversity is presented, as well as their sexist, homophobic and transphobic attitudes. Likewise, the relationships between training and attitudes are analyzed, observing that those who have received more training have more positive attitudes towards equality and sexual diversity
