“Foundation for professional development, pedagogical knowledge and participation in context”

Social Education, regarded as practical pedagogical knowledge, seeks to have an impact on the lives of the people and communities with whom we work via educational insights and purposes for the achievement of well-being and the recognition of dignity, both of students and educators. With this aim, it is necessary to establish educational relations based, not on any guideline, but on educational criteria. In addition, socio-educational action must generate contexts in which the various social actors contribute to the formation of capacities which integrate the educational and the social field. In this case, rational, relational, political and ethical capacities are put forward as skills that Social Education must generate in the socio-educational context. This proposal aims to leave room for reflection which allows socio-educational action linked to professional care, by making professionals aware, who are not the only actors and, therefore, are not the only responsible for the establishment of possible personal and social transformations, despite the undeniable positive impact of socio-educational action.
