Graduate in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela. In 1999 I joined the upper body of Administration of Galicia’s regional government, where I held various positions in the field of human resources and the management of R&D&I aids. In 2015 I became the head of the Child Protection Service and in November 2017 I started managing the Subdirectorate General of Family Policy, Children and Adolescents, from which all actions regarding the protection of children and adolescents in Galicia, the juvenile criminal justice system and family support programs are managed and coordinated. I have participated as a trainer and speaker in different activities on adoption and care, preparation of young people in the protection system for independent living, analysis of the regulations on child protection or on young offenders.

“The challenge of deinstitutionalization”
If the word pronunciation is tricky, achieving this goal is more than a challenge to all of us who work one way or another in the protection system. With this talk I intend to list the existing difficulties in the system, its weaknesses, but, above all, to provoke constructive dialogues that facilitate the creation of innovative ideas in order to achieve the ultimate objective: to end the circle of exclusion and social vulnerability of boys and girls in the protection system and their families. We will deal with issues such as support in situations of risk, the importance of creating family role models, social and labour insertion programs…
